As a regional economic development organization, One East Kentucky is supported by leaders throughout the state. With the objective of creating new jobs in the region, One East Kentucky has an important role to play in improving the economy for everyone since when jobs are created, everyone benefits.

Here is what some local leaders have to say about the organization -

“The organization is doing what needs to be done - leaving the area to go find companies and promote East Kentucky. They reach companies where they are to demonstrate how East Kentucky can meet their needs. We need to continue supporting One East Kentucky so that they can keep looking for companies,” said Paul Patton, the 59th Governor of Kentucky and One East Kentucky Board Member.

“One East Kentucky is working to bring jobs to this nine county region.  New opportunities that are started within the region can help to benefit the whole region, not just the town or county where the business is located,” said Leisha Maynard, President and CEO of Citizens Bank of Kentucky.

“I support the efforts of One East Kentucky because in order to rebuild Eastern Kentucky's economy, there must be a regional and strategic unified vision and effort. One East leads this charge.  They bring all players to the table as we try to collectively diversify and strengthen our economy and make the most of our resources,” said Jennifer Lindon, Ph.D. President/CEO of Hazard Community and Technical College and One East Kentucky Board Member.

“One East Kentucky plays a vital role in the growth of the region by working with local organizations and preparing product to be ready when a prospect is interested in the area. One East Kentucky has a proven track record. As a result, companies are confident in their ability to deliver and at a local level, organizations are willing to partner for mutual success,” said Brett Mattison, President & COO of Kentucky Power and One East Kentucky Board Member.

“We chose to support OEK due to the loss of so many mining jobs. It became obvious that in order to retain our population we would have to attract industry that can make use of the skills our folks have,” said Bill Grigsby, President/ General Manager of Thacker-Grigsby Telephone Co., Inc. and One East Kentucky Board Member.

“I support One East Kentucky because it is the only organization that has a business case and strategy to grow jobs in East Kentucky.  I was sold on the organization’s ability to recruit companies to the area,” said Duran Hall, President of Maverick Insurance Group, LLC and One East Kentucky Board Member.
