Board Fills Retiring Vacancies

Prestonsburg, KY, December 8, 2016– One East Kentucky announced today that their board of directors had replaced two retiring members. Greg Pauley, President of AEP Kentucky Power and Burt Bellamy, CEO of Citizens Bank of Kentucky are both retiring at the end of 2016.

“For our area to succeed in the growth of existing jobs and the creation of new jobs, we must lead from within, this is the truth that makes One East the most important group to arise in Eastern Kentucky in decades. My time on the One East Board has been both humbling and rewarding in the realization that success will spring only from our efforts and we cannot delay taking the lead in improving our region,” said Burt Bellamy.

Greg Pauley added, “It has been a pleasure to work with One East Kentucky. The cooperation among business people and county governments has been excellent as we continue our efforts to put people to work. The leadership of the organization is in great hands and Mr. Sexton has proven and will continue to prove to be a great asset to making this organization stronger every day.”

The One East Kentucky board of directors nominates and chooses the person to fulfill a potential vacancy. On Tuesday, they selected Leisha Maynard and Matthew Satterwhite. Both are also replacing Pauley and Bellamy at their respective private companies as well.

Allen Gillum, chair of One East Kentucky shared, “We were very happy that Ms. Maynard and Mr. Satterwhite were willing to serve on the board. It is a time and effort commitment not only to One East Kentucky, but to the families of these nine counties who need the organization to be successful for their future.”

The term filled by Leisha Maynard is through June of 2018 and the term filled by Matthew Satterwhite is through June of 2019. Their first board meeting as directors will be in January. Maynard expressed her appreciation at the opportunity to serve on the board of One East and Satterwhite added, “It is exciting to join this group and continue laying the groundwork for long-term success and lasting economic development in Eastern Kentucky".

President and CEO of One East Kentucky, Chuck Sexton, presented plaques to Mr. Pauley and Mr. Bellamy at the board meeting on Tuesday. The plaques were in recognition of their service to the diversification of east Kentucky through a collaborative economic development effort as well as their role in founding the organization.

“You really couldn’t ask for two better individuals to work with and have serve on your leadership team. Burt and Greg have both been extremely committed to seeing progress here in the mountains. Whether it was financial support of One East, steering the strategy of the organization or responding to my messages at midnight, they have both been extraordinary,” Sexton stated. “They know it is a long road ahead, but both of them understand the vision of where we are headed and what it will take to get there. I’m confident that Ms. Maynard and Mr. Satterwhite will bring that same intensity to our board.”

One East Kentucky will annually select three new directors for their board as terms expire in June. To be eligible to run, a person must be an investor in good standing with the organization. Officers must have served at least one term as a director to be eligible. The makeup of the board spans all nine counties and represents multiple areas of industry as well as community involvement.
