Brett Mattison

President, AEP Kentucky Power

Brett Mattison is Kentucky Power's president and chief operating officer. He has responsibility for all aspects of electric service for Kentucky Power's customers. At Kentucky Power, we're improving our customers' experience, strengthening communities and energizing our employees to create a brighter future together.

Mattison most recently was the director of Customer Services and Marketing for Southwestern Electric Power Co. (SWEPCO), in Shreveport, Louisiana. In this position from 2004 to 2019, he was responsible for all aspects of customer service and marketing. His oversight included the management of SWEPCO's largest customers, wholesale customers, as well as all aspects of meter reading and meter services, energy efficiency and process improvement. Mattison's organization worked closely with other departments, such as distribution, billing and account operations, solutions centers, regulatory, community affairs, dispatch, and transmission.

Mattison has held a number of positions with SWEPCO, including customer services supervisor; manager, customer relations; mlddle and mass market manager; marketing manager; and residential marketing consultant. He joined the company in 1990.

Community service has been a vital part of Mattison's career. He is on the boards of the Paramount Arts Center in Ashland, Ky., of One East Kentucky, which is focused on economic development In Eastern Kentucky, and the Kentucky State Chamber. A Louisiana native of the Shreveport-Bossier City area, Mattison has served as a commissioner for the Bossier Metropolitan Planning Commission, as president of the United Way of Northwest Louisiana, as two-time chair of the United Way campaign, as board member of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce and as board and executive board member of the Bossler City Chamber of Commerce. He is also a former member of the leadership team at First Baptist Church of Bossier City.

Mattison earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Finance from Louisiana Tech University and a commercial banking degree from the American Institute of Banking.

He and his wife, Lori, have four adult children and two grandchildren. They have relocated to the Ashland area.
